The Fools Rock the Red Lion! - 31.07.04
The Red Lion - Warstone Lane, Hockley, Birmingham.

A small but appreciative audience saw us do our second ever headline. We played for over an hour in the swelteringly hot stage area and the sound was probably one of the best ones I' ve encountered! We were without a drummer because Stuart from The Orphans, who has been helping us out recently, injured his hands. So Steve was the rhythm meister for the evening and we were aided again by Ella's accordian and some great harmonica for what I think's been the best rendition of "Beautiful" we've ever played! Many thanks to Pete Holder from Anarakula(who'd played a great set earlier) for that. We were also joined for "One" by the remarkable voice of Cat Chinn ( who has a belter of a voice and some great songs of her own!), Chris on shakers and Neil from Ethel Vince. It was truly a great way to end the evening. However, due to public demand a totally improvised version of U2's "With Or Without You" with Cat taking centre stage closed the proceedings. For me it'll go down as one of our better gigs- I hope a good time was had by all!
